We begin with a visit to famous Pisac market where you will find a host of traditional Andean textiles, trinkets and weird and wonderful Andean and tropical produce. After lunch you will head upward to the Inca ruins at Pisac. This impressive defensive site built by the Inca civilization at the eastern end of the Sacred Valley contains four sectors of Q’allaqasa, Pisaqa, Intihuatana, and Kinchiracay. Your privately guided tour will unearth the secrets of this magical destination and give insights to the significance of the sectors at this landmark archaeological site.

Day 03 – Misminay Andean Community, Maras Salt Pans, Moray Ruins

Misminay is a small village in the Andean foothills where a genuine eco-tourism project has been undertaken to help the education and development of the local community members. You will participate in first hand experiences of the Inca culture and daily lives across farming, weaving and traditional healing methods passed down from ancestors. After lunch you will visit the mysterious Inca crop laboratory of Moray in addition to a visit to the mesmerizing Maras Salt Pans. The setting is scenic and quite surreal clinging to the cliffside of the Andes. You will learn how locals since pre-Inca times have collectively produced a salt now gaining worldwide notoriety.

Day 04 – One Day Inca Trail Hike to Machu Picchu

A walk in the footsteps of the Inca people, this is an exhilarating adventure along the slopes of the Andes mountains. The route offers lesser known impressive Inca sites such as Wiñay Wayna discovered by the Wenner Gren Scientific Expedition as recently as 1940. The trek will offer up a great revelation of the Inca culture and the daily workings of their people and magnificent empire. Your day ends with a befitting entrance through Intipunku (the Sun Gate), revealing to your eyes magisterial Machu Picchu in all its glory.

Distance: 8 Miles / 13 Kms
Difficulty: Moderate
NOTE: Option to take the train to Machu Picchu instead of the Inca Trail.

Day 05 – Guided Tour of Machu Picchu & Huayna Picchu Hike

Your privately guided tour of Machu Picchu will ensure you get to visit the most consequential elements of the citadel and furthermore understand how they worked in unison among the Inca community. This morning you also have the freedom to embark on a trek to Huayna Picchu Mountain. This winding ascent brings you to a crescendo which offers classical panoramas overlooking Machu Picchu. The climb is always worth the effort to gaze down upon one of the wonders of the world. Pictures or words do not do justice to living this rapturous experience. In the evening you will board the train to Cusco to reminisce on a perfect day of life’s journey!

Day 06 – Free Morning, Afternoon Cusco Tour

A free morning to relax after your eventful day yesterday. What better place to than colonial Cusco, the former capital of the Tawantinsuyu Inca Empire. In the afternoon you can enjoy a tour of the many ruins of Cusco and the surrounding hinterland. These include the fortress of Sacsayhuaman overlooking Cusco, Korikancha (Temple of the Sun), Cusco Cathedral and Q’enko, where the sun, moon and stars were worshipped. UNESCO have noted this city as being one of the most important centers of religious art creation and production in the continent. Every cobblestone street and baroque or Incan inspired building is sure to leave you overawed by this amazing highland city.

Day 07 - Flight Cusco to Foz do Iguazu (Brazil)

A morning flight will begin today’s adventure; destination Foz de Iguazu Brazil. This route involves a connecting flight in Lima en route. At Foz de Iguazu you will be met by our guide and transferred to your hotel.

Day 08 – Visit Argentine Side of Iguazu Falls

The Guarani, a native people of the region, recount a story of their deity and his lady in waiting, Naipí. The beautiful Naipí escaped the home of the god under the cover of nightfall, and with her lover Tarobá slipped out onto the river. Upon revelation of her fateful deed, the deity severed the waters; Iguazu Falls were born. Tarobá and Naipí were punished and left to fall to the realms of infinity for their mortal eternity. On this tour we explore the Argentinean Falls via the Tancredo Neves Bridge route to the Iguazu National Park in Argentina. We board the tren de la selva (jungle train) navigating the park until the second stop. Here we begin the walking trail to reach the upper pathways of the park. These upper reaches afford the best views and interaction with the rainforest environment. Our ultimate goal is known locally as the Devil’s Throat (Garganta del Diablo) – the largest fall at 269 feet (82 meters) and the astounding view makes all your work worthwhile. Take time to savor the very best mother nature can offer.

Day 09 – Visit Brazilian Side of Falls & Afternoon Flight to Rio de Janeiro

The world-famous falls were dubbed as a “Natural Heritage of Humanity” by UNESCO back in 1986 and the province is a cornerstone of any luxury Brazil vacation. The Brazilian side, without doubt, offers the most expansive views of the falls. This park is an astounding 418 kms (260 miles) long and holds an area in excess of 185,000 hectares (458,000 acres), with the falls alone spanning 2,700 meters (8,900 ft). Following this adventure, you will take a flight to Rio de Janeiro.

Day 10 – Tour of Rio de Janeiro (Christ the Redeemer & Sugar Loaf Mountain)

We begin with an idyllic coastal drive aside the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon to the base of Corcovado Hill. Then board the train which will carry you to the infamous Christ the Redeemer statue. Witnessing the all-encompassing view of Rio de Janeiro is a once in lifetime moment etched on your memory. Onward to the Sugarloaf Mountain where we can enjoy the spectacular glass cable-car rides. Firstly, with a view from Urca peak across the panoramic bay. Secondly, onward and upward to the crest of the Sugar Loaf with vistas of metropolitan Rio, Corcovado with Botafogo and Copacabana Beaches. Your evening is made complete with dinner as you witness a mesmerizing samba show of colorful Brazilian dancers replete with their decadent costumes and hypnotic Latin rhythms.

Day 11 – Sail Boat Cruise on Guanabara Bay

The idyllic Guanabara Bay is nestled beneath Papagaio and Sugarloaf Mountains and truly is a picture postcard scene. This tour offers a host of views of the neighborhoods of Botafogo, Flamengo and Urca with the Fortress of Saint John of the Harbor. Through these very waters the colonial Portuguese navigated in January 1502 under the stewardship of Amerigo Vespucci and André Gonçalves, thus giving rise to the name Rio de Janeiro (January River). Today your luxury Brazil vacation will allow you sail and navigate the many attractions including Fundão and Governor’s Island before meandering west to view Rio de Janeiro. Along the eastern seaboard we also encounter the district of Niteroi. This is a quintessential journey aboard a beautiful schooner vessel into the heartland of Rio de Janeiro and her neighboring islet attractions.

Day 12 – Depart Rio de Janeiro

Following on from breakfast you will take your guided transfer to Rio airport and connection to your onward flight home. Your Three World Wonders of Latin America vacation will have delivered deeper perspectives and lifted your soul from the pleasures of three illustrious Latin American wonders of the world.

Peru has two seasons, the wet season (November – April) and the dry season (May – October). High-season is from April – November and also Christmas and New Year. February and March are the quietest months and have the heaviest rainfall. The Inca Trail (if included) is closed for the month of February. Iguazu Falls can be visited anytime of the year, but some months are better than others. December – February is the warmest time of the year with average daytime temperatures reaching 25 Dec C (77 Deg F). March – April is the dry season and August – September are also dry but offer cooler daytime temperatures. Walkways are generally never closed for the second half of the year. With epic attractions Rio de Janeiro can be visited all year around. The summer months of January – March are when Brazilian takes their vacations, so expect the city’s hotels and beaches to be full. Many visitors avoid the summer months due to limited hotel availability and increased hotel rates. For this vacation package it is best to avoid the dates of Rio Carnival, which is held every year before Lent (see dates below).
