“I want to mention our guides and drivers for all of our wonderful Lima experiences. Edwin swept us up from the busy airport and he and Frankie quickly deposited us at Hotel Arawi. Edwin did a great job explaining logistics for the next few days and made sure I had his number in my WhatsApp in case we needed anything during our stay. For all of his shuttling duties, he was prompt and helpful. Ricardo is an excellent historian who also got Tom hooked on Team Universario! His tour of the old city, Barranca, and Pachacamac were fascinating. The restaurant tour with Carlos was delicious! Though there was so much food! I have wished for the food we left since then several times! We liked Pescados Capitales so much we returned w some friends from the Delfin 2 a week later! And Carlos from the restaurant entertained us at our table w another pisco sour demonstration! I just forgot the name of the guide for the Museo Larco tour. He, too, was very knowledgeable and accommodating of Tom’s need for breaks! Every driver was professional and competent, even in the crazy busy Lima traffic! The Hotel Arawi is wonderful and the staff is so friendly and helpful! The suites are spacious, comfortable, and quiet. “Thank you TLA for providing the most amazing experience for my son and I. TLA went above and beyond good service. We planned our trip to the Peruvian Amazon and Machu Picchu with TLA months ago but when we went to visit Cusco it just happened to be right in the middle of the labor strikes. These are not things you can predict when you are planning a trip to another country and can hinder your vacation if you don't have an amazing and experienced company like TLA helping you out. As we started on our hike with our guide, Freddy (who was fantastic), we kept running into other guides who were walking alone as their guests had not arrived due to the labor strike in Cusco on the 18th. But my son and I were just getting started on our Inca Trail adventure and there was only one reason for that. Totally Latin America had remained on top of this situation from the moment the strike discussions started. They mobilized to get us on the train a day earlier from previously planned so my son and I could experience one of the most beautiful and important places we’ve ever seen. From the Peruvian Amazon cruise aboard the Aqua Nera which was absolutely incredible which I would highly recommend for all ages, to our excellent time in Cusco, to the unimaginable experience that is Machu Picchu, the folks at TLA were fantastic. My husband and I had the trip of a lifetime. The highlights were Galapagos Islands, Mashpi Lodge, Machu Picchu, Iguazu Falls, and Buenos Aires. Our travel specialist, Jason, helped me design our trip to get the most out of each area we wanted to go to with activities that matched our lifestyle. He took into consideration our budget, length of travel, activity level, and interests. The accommodations arranged for us were above our expectations and our travel between countries went smoothly. The tour guide or contact person for each location was always waiting for us at our destination. They escorted us to the hotel, airports, and everywhere that was scheduled in our itinerary. We never felt “on our own" which for us is what we requested since we had never traveled in South America. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and explained everything to us, even while driving in the car to places of interest. The drivers were also very amazing and reliable.

My most memorable part of the trip was seeing the hummingbirds and other tropical birds at Mashpi Lodge. The amount and uniqueness of tropical birds were amazing and definitely nothing I will ever see in the U.S. To conclude, on our last day in Buenos Aires, we went to a gaucho ranch called Estancia El Ombú de Areco. We loved it. It was a relaxing day with barbecue, horse rides, and time to enjoy the outdoors. It felt like we were with family.”
