Journey to the end of the earth to explore nature’s finest at the Land of Fire and wild Patagonia.

INTRODUCTION

The desire to venture far from home and discover new lands and people lies within our souls. Distant lands have an innate magnetism to arouse our curiosity and none more so than the recherché sanctuaries of remote Tierra del Fuego and wild Patagonia. In our world of modernity, nature more than ever calls us back to the simpler wonders of living. Without compromise you can choose to forget your i-pad, smart phone and so forth. Each privately guided exploration will serve to remind you of our true purpose on this planet, your human quest for knowledge. Only mother nature weaves the exquisite.

Day 1 – International Arrival Buenos Aires. Overnight Buenos Aires

Arrival to Buenos Aires International Airport. Private transfer to Alvear Palace Hotel Buenos Aires.
2

Day 2 – Morning Private Tour of Buenos Aires. Evening Asado Experience

Buenos Aires Sightseeing Tour - 4 hours. Visit Plaza de Mayo, the city’s foundational site and learn the chronology of Argentina’s turbulent political history. We visit the Pink House, Presidential Palace, the Cabildo and the Neoclassical-style Metropolitan Cathedral. This was the final residence of Argentina’s founding father, José de San Martín. After visiting the impressive Plaza San Martín, we continue to the Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar, one of the city’s oldest Colonial churches. Finally, we admire the celebrated Recoleta Cemetery, a true labyrinth of ornate mausoleums. We include Eva Peron’s grave, one of the country’s most recognizable icons.

Onward to Puerto Madero, the latest addition to the city’s districts. In 1991, its huge warehouses and silos were remodeled and redesigned, to integrate the river to the city. This created a new district fusion of residential, hotel and gastronomy. We’ll then head for San Telmo, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires. It used to be the residential district favored by the upper class until the late 19th century when a yellow fever epidemic caused the wealthier families to leave northwards. The area was marginalized until the 1970s when many artists and artisans came to San Telmo. Nowadays, thanks to its amazing architecture and bohemian atmosphere, this ancient neighborhood is prospering. We’ll walk its cobbled streets, where the city’s Colonial past comes to life, making a stop at Plaza Dorrego, best known for its traditional antiques fair, held every Sunday.

Leaving San Telmo behind, we’ll continue southwards to La Boca, one of the city’s most authentic and charming neighborhoods. It is a working-class district, heavily shaped by Italian immigrants who came to our country in large numbers during the last quarter of the 19th century. Here, we’ll make a special visit to the mythical Caminito Street, which sums up everything that gives La Boca its distinctive spirit: the strong passion for soccer, the heavy presence of art and color amid a tango-esque atmosphere.

Fogón Asado Dinner Experience. From the creators of The Argentine Experience, the chefs of Uco Restaurant in Buenos Aires and Butterfly in Bariloche. Fogón is a new way of living the traditional argentine asado. Discover the asado tradition, served with a twist. At Fogón, they created a closed-door dining experience that explores new ways of serving Argentine Asado classics. While seated at the bar you will live the experience of different grill cooking techniques. The aim is to create a memorable evening for each guest beyond the ordinary.

Day 3 – Flight to Ushuaia. Overnight Los Resort and Spa Hotel

Private transfer to Buenos Aires Airport (AEP), flight to Ushuaia. Private transfer to Los Cauquenes Resort and Spa Hotel. With a backdrop of the Andes Mountains, aside the Beagle Channel beach and located just 7 km away from the city of Ushuaia in this Land of Fire (Tierra del Fuego).
4

Day 4 - Estancia Harberton, Penguins & Trek

Visit the oldest estancia in the Land of Fire - Tierra del Fuego, an imposing remote country house. Contemplate the gracious Magellanic and Gentoo Penguins, closing the day with a scenic hike along the coast encountering beautiful hidden coves.

We depart in the morning taking National Route 3 to its intersection with “J” Route, where meander along the coast, bordering Lasifashaj´s River Valley, almost at the mouth of the Beagle Channel in Brown Bay. We arrive to Estancia Harberton, where its manager, one of the founder´s great-grandsons will receive us warmly. We take a guided tour of the establishment, learning about its heritage and community in the woolen industry.

Later, we take a Zodiac Boat to visit a huge colony of Magellanic and Gentoo Penguins. Rambling around these gracious seabirds respectfully, we learn about their lives and the ways of conservation. Back in the ranch, we head to Cambaceres Bay and hike from there along the coast of the Lasifashaj River up to a delightful waterfall. To conclude, we visit Puerto Almanza, the most southern fishing port in Argentina. Transfer back to your hotel.

5

Day 5 – Flight to El Calafate. Overnight EOLO -Patagonia Spirit

Following a delicious breakfast, we take a private transfer from your hotel to Ushuaia Airport and fly onward to El Calafate. This is the land of the mighty glaciers of Argentina. On arrival you will be met by our representative and driven thirty minutes to your hotel accommodation at EOLO- Patagonia Spirit.

EOLO Patagonia Spirit. The property is set on a te-thousand-acre estancia (ranch) in the heartland of The Andes Mountains. Pristine lakes and the glaciers abound as you are immersed in the steppe's windy silence. This exclusive lodge is the perfect hidden retreat to springboard to the wonders of Los Glaciares National Park.

Accessible and yet elusive, EOLO offers two simultaneous experiences in El Calafate. On the one hand, you will be able to experience the scenery directly. On the other, visitors can contemplate the endless horizons and succumb to the peacefulness of the geography's vastness without leaving the comfort of the hotel. The sunrises and sunsets, the moon rising, the infinite colors of the big skies. What more could you ask?

6

Day 6 – Adventures at EOLO Patagonia Spirit

Today we have a flexible day which can involve relaxing at EOLO or partaking in one of their many local excursions. These include, trekking Cerro Frias, birdwatching, mountain biking La Anita Valley, horseback riding Cerro Fria or Flamingo Lagoon. Also, you can partake in 4x 4 trips or an amazing Zip Line adventure (five sections of approximately 1,500 feet (457m) each). You can select any of these local excursions and discuss on arrival at your hotel.
7

Day 7 - Big Ice Adventure, Journey to the Centre of Perito Moreno Glacier

The Perito Moreno Glacier is set in the Los Glaciares National Park in the southwest of Santa Cruz province. The 250 km2 (97 sq. mi) ice formation is 30 km (19 miles) in length and is one of 48 glaciers fed by the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. We begin at the embarkation pier located in Bajo de las Sombras port, about 6 km before the glacier Balconies. We navigate ten minutes across the Rico Arm, enjoying breathtaking views of the Perito Moreno glacier’s front walls.

After checking the gear, we get ready, pick up the crampons and walk following the moraine, for an hour and a half, until we reach the access to the glacier. After fitting harnesses and crampons on our footwear, we start the ice trekking. There is a breathtaking view of the immense plateau of ice. During the walk, you will be introduced to several features within the ice, huge moulins (mills), crevasses, caves, and above all the exhilarating feeling of exploring the middle of the ice. Expert bilingual mountain guides will always lead you, looking after your safety and teaching you the “ways of the ice”. You will hike for about 3 ½ hours and enjoy lunch on the glacier. Back on the moraine, we start our descent back to the port, to take the boat and navigate very close to the southern wall. Transfer back to your hotel.

Day 8 – Private Transfer to Explora Patagonia Torres del Paine

Private vehicle transfer from EOLO Hotel, Argentina to overnight at Explora Salto Chico Lodge, Chile.

Note: This journey crosses the border from Argentina into Chile. Distance 318kms.

Explora Lodge Patagonia. This beautiful lodge is located right in the heart of the extraordinary Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia. The diverse and pristine landscapes of this area led UNESCO to declare it a biosphere reserve. It affords an excellent view of the unique Paine Massif and two of the three impressive torres, or towers, which give the park its name. For travellers, the lodge provides the welcome surprise of comfort in a remote area. Yet, nature awaits all around you with a host of options to explore. Atop a promontory at Lake Pehoé Torres del Paine National Park, Explora Patagonia has an envious location to embark upon the finest explorations.

9

Day 9 – Adventures Explora Torres del Paine Chilean Patagonia

There are many different adventure possibilities within the Torres del Paine National Park. Explora offer over forty adaptations of hikes, horse rides, vehicle assisted tours as diverse as the client’s imagination. The excursions are always led by an expert bilingual guide with a maximum of eight travellers per group. They include walks towards crystal clear lakes, and lenga beech tree forests, hikes to viewpoints and horseback rides through the park’s pampas (grasslands) and along its rivers.

One trek of noteworthy mention is the extolled W Circuit that routes the trails that surround the Paine Massif. Our explorations to the base of the Torres (towers), the Grey Glacier and the Valle Francés (French Valley) follow part of this circuit dependent on the number of days you have to visit. A good option is to combine some of these explorations with other less familiar places within the park, either by vehicle, walking or horseback riding.

Explora walks have different durations and difficulty levels. Those that take the full day give us the privilege of having lunch immersed in nature, while those that take half a day allow us to come back to the lodge. It opens a chance for another excursion after lunch or just relaxation. Horseback riding is available for beginners, advanced, and expert riders; therefore, there are no excuses for not living the Patagonian experience riding through the park along with our gauchos.
