Essential Buenos Aires (7 Days)

Day 01 – Arrive into Buenos Aires

Arrival to Buenos Aires International Airport (EZE). Upon arrival our guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you one-hour to downtown Buenos Aires. Founded in the 16th Century, the city has an illustrious history, with an estimated 85 percent of it residents being of European decent. Buenos Aires is a city of wide leafy avenues with a myriad of incredible architectural delights. With plentiful restaurants and a nightlife that really doesn’t gets going until the turn of midnight; it is no surprise that Buenos Aires is known as the Paris of Latin America.

Day 02 – Morning Panoramic Tour of Buenos Aires

You’ll start your adventure with a panoramic tour of Buenos Aires. The tour of Argentina’s capital will visit the glamourous neighborhoods of Recoleta, Palermo, San Telmo, Puerto Madero and the old Italian immigrant town of La Boca. You’ll stop in Plaza de Mayo the founding square of the city, where you can appreciate La Casa Rosada (Government Palace) and the beautiful Metropolitan Cathedral. In Recoleta, you’ll be able to explore the elaborate Recoleta Cemetery the resting place of the city’s most powerful and elite, including the grave of Evita. In La Boca you’ll take a walk along the famous Caminto Street where local dancers sensually dance the Tango.

In the evening we’ll take you back in-time with a Tango show and dinner at Café de Los Angelitos. Located in the historic Monserrat Barrio, Café de Los Angelitos for many years was an uninhibited and forgotten street corner. It was a place full of wall posters and two Cherub Angels at the top crying out to the city for redemption. Nowadays, the doors of the café are re-opened in full glory, bringing back the enchantment and passion of Tango from a lost symbolic time in the history of Buenos Aires.

Day 03 – Excursion to Delta Tigre & Northern Buenos Aires

Today you’ll head to the north of Buenos Aires for a tour of the Delta Tigre. Named Tigre after the tigers that roamed the land years previously, this area 1-hour north of Buenos Aires was once a weekend retreat for wealthy families. British character prevails strongly in the area, with countless Victorian and Tudor Mansions dominating the riverbanks. On arrival at the Delta, you’ll embark a river boat at the San Fernando Marina for a two-hour boat ride.

Later you’ll visit the famous Paseo Victorica. This short and winding promenade follows the banks of the Luján River, passing by numerous rowing clubs with spectacular buildings like La Marina Club, raised in the Belle Epoque period of the late 20th century. On your return to Buenos Aires, you’ll stop in the Cathedral and historic center of San Isidro, before skirting the outer suburbs of Buenos Aires and visiting the Presidential Residence in Olivos.

Day 04 – Morning Tour of Teatro Colón & MALBA, Evening Malbec Wine Tour in Palermo

You’ll start today with a visit to the Teatro Colón (Colón Theater), a world-class ballet, classical music and opera house. The first inaugural production was by the Grand Italian Opera Company in May 1880, but since then Teatro Colón has hosted events from performers such as Stravinsky, Leonard Bernstein, Plácido Domingo and Pavarotti. You’ll take a back-stage tour of the theatre which will provide a fascinating glimpse of the building’s inner-workings, set design and costume making.

We include a visit to the Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires (MALBA) considered one of the newest and most impressive art museums in Latin America. Housed in a superb modern building resembling several interlocking cubes, this world-class museum has numerous works by modern artists from across Latin America.

You’ll finish the day in the Palermo District of Buenos Aires for a Malbec wine tasting experience. During the evening you’ll taste several different wines whilst leaning about the cultivation, harvesting and processing of Malbec wine. A typical picada which includes bread, local cheeses, olives, dried meats and empanadas will also be included. Relax and enjoy the company of locals and other wine lovers alike.

Day 05 – Argentine Asado at a Traditional Gaucho Ranch

Today you’ll visit a traditional estancia located on the rich wet pampas inland from Buenos Aires. Considered one of the world’s largest natural prairies, this region of Argentina is famous for its meat and cereal production.

On arrival you’ll be welcomed by the owners with typical empanadas de carne (meat pasties) and refreshments. After you’ll be treated to a traditional Argentine Asado (barbeque), which comprises of a tasty selection of steak, tender pork cuts and succulent lamb. Selected alcoholic and non- alcoholic drinks are included. After lunch, a folkloric Gaucho`s show will be performed, and you’ll also witness a typical Ring Race (Carrera de Sortijas). Farm hands, gauchos and guests alike are invited to dance in the shade of native Calden Trees.

Day 06 – Free Day in Buenos Aires

The City of Buenos Aires beckons you to explore, so we include a free-day so you can do just that. We recommend heading to San Telmo an area known for its narrow-cobbled roads and beautiful colonial period buildings. Take some time to explore the famous street market (Sundays) full of antiques and unique hand-crafted items. Experience locals dance the Tango in the main square. The area is also popular for its cafés, boutique shops and art galleries.

Venture to the historic art-deco Gran Rex Theatre for a night of entertainment. Top performers captivate well-seasoned local audiences with nights of rousing entertainment. Afterwards, head out to an Italian restaurant for a pizza and a few glasses of your favorite Malbec.

Day 07 – Depart
