Alvaro is one of our most experienced guides, with more than 40 years of hands on experience in the Peruvian and Latin American tourism industry. He has travelled extensively throughout Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil and Chile. As Head of International Guiding, Alvaro is responsible for recruiting and training all our guides across Latin America.

Alvaro started in tourism with qualifications in hotel management from CENFOTUR, a tourism technical in Lima. He continued his studies in Cusco with an additional three years of education to gain professional qualifications in guiding. Over the years, he has worked in all aspects of the tourism industry, including planning, sales, operations, customer service, the Inca Trail and tour leading. Alvaro is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian and French.

Being a native Cusqueñan, Alvaro loves to share his knowledge of the regions history with our clients and has a special interest in Inca spirituality.

On his days off, Alvaro likes spending time with his family. He has a small workshop where he spends time crafting unique mosaics, which he later sells at the Santuranticuy Christmas market in Cusco. He also enjoys meditation and is a renowned Reiki Master.
