Arrive Lima - Day 01
Arrive to Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) in Lima. We will co-ordinate your airport transfer with your arrival time. There are no planned activities this afternoon, so you will have free time to relax from your flights..
Your hotel in Lima will be the Orient Express owned Miraflores Park Hotel. This opulent hotel is one of Lima's premier properties, and is superbly located in the fashionable Miraflores district, close to Lima's best restaurants and shopping. Situated overlooking the Pacific Ocean the Miraflores Park offers guests a choice of spacious and elegant accommodations, featuring either ocean or city views.
Private Tour of Lima - Day 02
Lima is an exciting and dynamic city of more than 9 million residents. Once the most important and wealthiest city in South America, Lima has an amazing and interesting past that every visitor to Peru should take a moment to experience. Your English speaking guide will collect you for a half day private tour of Lima. The tour will take you to the historic centre of Lima, where Francisco Pisaro the Spanish conquistador founded the city in 1535. The tour highlights include visits to Plaza de Armas (Lima's main square), Lima Cathedral and the Convent and Church of San Francisco.
Private Tour of Cusco - Day 03
In the morning you will take the short flight to the Inca Capital - Cusco. On arrival we will meet you and take you by transport to your hotel. The City of Cusco was the most important city in the Inca Empire, and was a city of vast wealth, with incredible buildings, vast palaces and gold lined temples. Modern day Cusco is a city built in and around beautiful Inca ruins, but with a mix of colonial buildings from the period of Spanish reign. In the afternoon we will collect you from your hotel, and take you for a private tour of Cusco and the surrounding areas. The tour includes visits to the Inca sites of Tambomachay, Q'enko, Sacsayhuaman, Koricancha and Cusco Cathedral.
In Cusco we include the famous Monasterio hotel in the colonial center. The Monasterio Hotel is one of Cusco's most iconic buildings, a former monastery and national monument dating back to 1592, the Monasterio Hotel is steeped with incredible history. Private Tour of the Sacred Valley - Day 04
Today after breakfast, we will collect you for a full day private tour of the Sacred Valley, situated 1 hour from Cusco. First you will travel to the attractive village of Ollantaytambo, located at the western end of the valley. The town is located at the foot of some spectacular Inca ruins, strategically built to defend the entrance to the Urubamba Valley. After a buffet lunch in one of Urubamba's top hotels, you will travel the short distance to the market town of Pisac. In Pisac you will have time to explore the famous bustling artisan market in the main plaza, set below the sprawling Inca ruins in the mountains above. On the return journey to Cusco you will pass through a traditional Andean village, where you will briefly visit the small intricately decorated colonial church of Chinchero.
Private Tour of Machu Picchu - Day 05
Today you will travel aboard the famous luxury Hiram Bingham Train to Machu Picchu. Departing from Poroy (or the Sacred valley during the wet season), this Orient Express operated journey is one of the top train journeys in the world. Its distinctive blue and gold livery and elegant interior upholstery in warm, inviting tones, consists of 4 cars - 2 dining cars, a bar / observation car and a kitchen car. Brunch is served on the journey.
Your personal guide will give you a two hour guided tour of the best highlights at Machu Picchu. The tour will include visits to the Caretakers Hut, the Temple of the Sun, the Royal Tomb, the Three Windowed Temple, the main quarry and Intihuatana (the Solar Clock).
A buffet lunch is included at the Sanctuary Lodge Hotel, which is conveniently located adjacent to the citadel of Machu Picchu. In the afternoon you will have free-time to explore Machu Picchu, before heading back to your hotel for dinner.
The Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge Hotel offers its guests exceptionally easy access to Machu Picchu from early morning to late afternoon, when most of the day visitors and buses have left. Sit out on a terrace and savor Peruvian cuisine based on produce grown on the Lodge's own plot: this delightful Orient-Express hideaway is the perfect place to relax and unwind in the shadow of the Lost City. Dinner is included at the hotel.
Re-visit Machu Picchu - Day 06
Today you will have a free day to re-visit Machu Picchu, this is your opportunity to explore some of the sights that are not included on the standard tour. You may wish to hike the small mountain of Huayna Picchu (Young Mountain) to see the amazing views that are offered from this vantage point, or perhaps a visit to the amazing Inca Bridge, built as a secret access route to Machu Picchu. In the afternoon you will return to Aguas Calientes, where you will take the Hiram Bingham Train to Cusco. A four-course lunch is included on the return journey. We will include the 5 star Monasterio Hotel on your return to Cusco.
Depart Lima - Day 07
After a relaxing breakfast, we will collect you from your hotel and take you to Cusco airport for your mid-morning flights to Lima. In Lima airport you can connect to your onward flight, or alternatively, we can arrange transport to take you in to Lima for some last minute shopping, or perhaps a spot of lunch.
