Location: Located 10 minutes from Cusco airport in a small plazoleta, 2 blocks from the main square.
Overview: Originally built in the 1595 on the site of the palace of Inca Amaru Qhala. This building has a long and illustrious history with both the Incas and the Spanish. Converted into a hotel in 1965, and purchased by the Orient Express Group in 1999, the Monasterio hotel is a fantastic colonial hotel of the highest standard.
Accommodations: The Monasterio offers 126 rooms, of which all are in a colonial setting around inner courtyards of the hotel. The decoration and furnishings combine the best of modern and traditional Spanish colonial style. Magnificent examples of religious art adorn the walls. The presence of the past is ever present, even as you are pampered by every luxury and modern comfort. Most rooms have the option of oxygen supplements to counteract the effect of altitude.

With its view onto the Main Patio and intimate ambiance, Restaurant Illariy will charm you with its unique atmosphere and distinctive Peruvian and International Cuisine, created by their Chef Marco Albán. Totally Peru Star Rating: ![]()
Totally Peru Verdict: This is a really special hotel set in one of Peru's best preserved colonial style buildings. The hotel exudes peace and tranquility from the moment you enter. We particularly like the grand feeling of the lobby bar, and the relaxed luxurious feel of the Illariy restaurant. However! you need to remember that this hotel was built as a monasterio and not a hotel, many rooms are actually quite small.
